Search Queries

Search Queries

Site Configuration

என்பதை அறிய உதவும் "Your Site on the Web" என்பதை பற்றி காணலாம்.

Your site on the web Search Queries, Links to Your Site, Keywords, Internal Links, Subscriber Stats

 Search Queries:

Position in search results

Top Pages:

FREE Service protect your mail

  1. Free services protect your e-mail

Technologies come and go, but e-mail just keeps chugging along. According to a Pew Internet report released August 9, search and e-mail remain the most popular Internet activities: 92 percent of online adults use search engines, and 59 percent use them on an average day; e-mail is also used by 92 percent of adults online, 61 percent of whom use it on a typical day.
So it's no surprise e-mail scams continue to proliferate. The FBI's New E-Scams & Warnings page is alerting people to scam e-mails purporting to be raising money to help victims of Hurricane Irene. Another frequent ruse is an e-mail claiming to be from the IRS and asking for personal information to process a tax payment or refund. As the agency explains on its Problem Alerts page, the IRS never sends unsolicited e-mails requesting personal or financial information.
You'll find a description of the 10 most common e-mail scams on the U.S. government's OnGuard Online site.
There's more to e-mail security than avoiding Web crooks. Sometimes we need to send a note we know will be read only by the intended recipient. Most of us have more than one e-mail account--and sometimes as many as five or six different in-boxes--so just finding a message can be a challenge. We also have to make sure our important messages are safely backed up. And we need to protect our addresses themselves from the Web's e-mail-address scrapers.
These free services let you send a message that is delivered outside your e-mail account and that is erased automatically after a set time; combine several accounts into a searchable central repository; back up multiple e-mail accounts; and convert your e-mail address (or other text) into a graphic that can't be scraped.

    Secure-message service ensures your privacy

There may be times when you want to send a message that leaves no traces. Since "deleting" an e-mail doesn't really remove it from the sending server--let alone from the recipient's in-box and all the stops in between--you need a messaging system that keeps the message itself outside of either e-mail account. You also need to ensure that the text will disappear once it has been read.
That's the idea behind the free Privnote service. Write your note on the site, check the option to "Notify me when this note gets read" if you wish, and click Create Note to generate a link you can paste into an e-mail to the note's recipient.

Compose your note in a text box on the Privnote site and then send a link to the note's recipient; after it has been read, the note is erased.

After the person opens the note and closes the page, the note disappears. The recipient can copy and paste the note's contents, so you can't be sure the message will not reappear elsewhere, but at least you know only the person who receives the link has access to the note. The recipient is given the option to compose another secure note.

While the note's recipient can copy and paste its contents, Privnote promises that no one else will have access to it before and after it's sent.

Create a central repository for all your e-mail

Last November I explained how to combine and organize multiple e-mail accounts. In previous posts I covered how to forward messages from Gmail to Outlook and Thunderbird, as well as how to reverse the process to have your Outlook and Thunderbird mail appear in your Gmail in-box.
The free GMX Mail service offers the Mail Collector that integrates your Web mail and ISP mail accounts, along with your mail and Facebook contacts. GMX also provides an organizer with a calendar and task list, up to 2GB of file storage, and file sharing.
The GMX Mail Collector wizard makes it easy to import mail from your accounts: simply provide your user ID and password. Creating a free GMX account takes only a few minutes and includes a custom "@gmx.com" address. You can create e-mail aliases, mail filters, autoresponders, and signatures. There's even an option for using text only rather than HTML. But my favorite GMX feature is the ability to search all your accounts at one time.

Archive all your e-mail in a single app

When you use multiple e-mail accounts and programs, you can never be sure where all your messages are. The free MailStore Home lets you create archives of all your ISP and Web mail accounts that you can view in a single interface.
After you download and install the program, you select one of the 11 archive options, which include Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Exchange, Mozilla Thunderbird, Gmail, Windows Live Mail, POP3, and IMAP. For Outlook, you can archive a local profile or a .pst file. You can select a date range for the archive, exclude unread mail, and choose other options.

Select which messages you want to include in the mail archive via the MailStore Home archive wizard.

Likewise for Gmail you can archive only selected folders and set a connection-timeout threshold. After the archive is created you can search the mail store, save messages in external folders, view and print messages, and delete them, among other operations.

Prevent e-mail-address scraping by converting it from text to a graphic

One of the techniques spammers use to acquire e-mail addresses is to scan Web pages and other text files for any at-sign with a string of text on the left and another string of text ending in ".com", ".net", or ".edu" (among other potential suffixes) on the right. People use various methods to "munge" their addresses, such as replacing the at-sign with the word "at" separated by spaces or hyphens from the rest of the address.
Sometimes munging works, and sometimes it doesn't. Another option for displaying your address on the Web in a nonscrapable form is to convert the address into a graphic the scrapers can't read. The free Hidetext.net service will translate any string of text up to 100,000 characters into a .gif file that you can drag and drop, copy as a link or vBcode, or download.
You can either enter the text you want to convert in the site's main text box or create a .gif for a single e-mail address by entering the user ID and selecting the mail service from a drop-down menu. The text-box option lets you select one of two font styles and five different point sizes: 9, 10, 12, 14, or 16. The e-mail-address graphic is available in any of five colors: black, white, red, blue, or gray.
Bonus tip: Should you change your password?
The aptly named Should I Change My Password? site offers to let you enter your e-mail address to find out whether the address is listed in one of the massive databases of e-mail accounts spammers use to compile their list of victims.
While I have no reason to disbelieve the site's claim that it doesn't collect the passwords people enter there, I encourage everyone to change their e-mail and other important passwords regularly. If you have any question about whether your e-mail address has been made public, devise a new password right away. Spammers have no shortage of sources for their targets. Knowing your address isn't in Should I Change My Password?'s database may only give you a false sense of security.
After all, changing your password doesn't cost you a dime, and it's a habit that can save you from a big headache down the road.

amazon-first android tablet

Why Amazon's will be the first successful Android tablet

By:
Let's just get one thing out of the way--Amazon's mysterious and still officially unannounced tablet is NOT an iPad killer. The iPad can look forward to living a long and prosperous life, at least in tech terms. But today, the first report came down of someone actually seeing and using the Amazon tablet, which is actually the next Kindle, according to TechCrunch's MG Seigler, who was not allowed to photograph the device.
As ZDNet's Larry Dignan points out, the new Kindle (or Kindles--CNET also reported as early as May that Amazon was working on both 7- and 10-inch tablets) is Amazon's worst-kept secret, which is why we think we know so much about it.
And now that at least one human appears to have handled one of the devices, I'm suddenly feeling confident enough to make a declaration that may seem foolish given the HP TouchPad's recent demise and strange life after death. Here it is anyway in case you missed the headline: This new Amazon Kindle/tablet thing, if the majority of what we've heard about it is true, will be the first Android tablet to actually sell.
Forrester has already said that Amazon could sell 5 million tablets next quarter, and I think that's more than just blowing smoke. Here're five reasons why:
Value: Rumors about the price of an Amazon tablet have been consistently heading downward since the beginning of the summer. Much of this could be wishful thinking following the TouchPad fire sale, but Amazon is nothing if not shrewd about pricing and also has no fear of launching a loss leader. The $249 price point sounds about right, if not even a bit lower. Throwing in Amazon Prime for free also makes perfect sense to get customers streaming and shopping from their new device right away. Such a total package would blow all other Android offerings out of the water and give some Apple fans pause as well.
Whispernet: This hasn't been widely reported because it isn't widely understood, but the new Amazon tablet will come with a free 3G data plan built in. Whispernet is Amazon's wireless network that up until now has been used only by 3G Kindles to keep track of your reading progress and highlighting on your eBooks via Whispersync. Whispersync would become much more dynamic on an Amazon tablet, providing on-demand data without any additional plan. Take your Amazon tablet out of the box, charge it up, turn it on, and if you're in range of a 3G signal, you're automatically online and ready to start streaming from Prime or Cloud Drive, or (Amazon hopes) to start shopping.
Amazon doesn't have to replace Apple: For every time someone put out the extra money to buy an iMac or a Macbook, there were always a handful of other consumers just as happy to spend half as much on the latest from HP, Lenovo, Acer, or a number of others. The smartphone market is beginning to look the same with the iPhone and its competitors, and the same will eventually happen with the iPad and tablets. More economically minded consumers are just waiting for a tab that offers enough value, and Amazon has the resources to deliver.
The power of e-ink: While the Techcrunch report says the tablet Siegler handled was backlit-only, there are reports that the other of the possible two models will be dual-mode, operating as a backlit color tablet with the option to switch to the easy-on-the-eye e-Ink mode familiar to Kindle users. This is another key differentiating factor that could push Amazon forward.
Brand: It takes more than low price to create value, which is why the cheapo no-name Android tabs haven't taken off. But the Amazon and Kindle brands have the power to recruit new tablet users, just as the Amazon brand did with the original Kindle.
Whatever Amazon comes out with, it's not likely to be as pretty as an iPad--word is it actually looks like RIM's PlayBook--but it's almost guaranteed to be cheaper, and will probably leave many new TouchPad owners feeling a little buyer's remorse.

SF police confirm search for lost, unreleased iPhone

San Francisco police have confirmed that they "assisted" Apple internal security in a recent search of a home, which CNET was the first to report earlier this week was aimed at finding an unreleased iPhone owned by the company.
"Apple came to us saying that they were looking for a lost item," San Francisco Police Department spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield said, according to a report this afternoon by SF Weekly.
Sergio Calderón, who lives in the city's Bernal Heights neighborhood, told the paper that about six people who looked like police showed up at his house and he gave them permission to search it.
One of the investigators reportedly was Anthony Colon, a former San Jose Police Department sergeant who's now a senior investigator for Apple. After the report appeared, Colon deleted his LinkedIn profile (a copy is here).
Apple declined to comment this afternoon. Dangerfield did not respond to repeated requests for comment. (A police spokesman previously told CNET he could not divulge information about the search unless he had the police report number or the name of the person--not the company--making the complaint.)
A day or two after the iPhone was lost at the Cava22 tequila lounge in late July, Apple representatives contacted San Francisco police and said they had traced it to a home in the Bernal Heights neighborhood, a source familiar with the investigation told CNET. San Francisco police, accompanied by Apple internal security, performed a consensual search of the home but did not find the device, according to the source.
Following a search of the house and garage, Calderón said he was offered a cash reward for the return of the phone to the tune of $300, though was not told what the device was.
While Apple has not publicly announced any plans for future phones, unconfirmed reports in the last few weeks suggest the launch date for the iPhone 5 is likely to be in early October. Other reports from Taiwan have set the date at September or October. (See CNET's iPhone 5 rumor roundup.)

Last year's prototype iPhone went missing when Robert Gray Powell, an Apple computer engineer who was 28 years old at the time, left it in a German beer garden in Redwood City, Calif.
In early August, San Mateo County prosecutors filed misdemeanor criminal charges against two men, Brian Hogan and Sage Wallower, for allegedly selling Powell's iPhone 4 prototype to Gawker Media's Gizmodo blog. An arraignment is scheduled for tomorrow.
Prosecutors obtained a warrant to search the home of Gizmodo editor Jason Chen and indicated they might prosecute Gizmodo, but eventually decided not to file charges.
Under a California law dating back to 1872, any person who finds lost property and knows who the owner is likely to be--but "appropriates such property to his own use"--is guilty of theft. In addition, a second state law says any person who knowingly receives property that has been obtained illegally can be imprisoned for up to one year.

BOY MEETS A GIRL

BOY MEETS A GIRL

So as we all know, Ah Girl likes Ah Boy. *nods*Ah Boy however, likes pork dumplings. *shrugs*Ah Girl tried her best to woo Ah Boy. Haha. Imagine that.
So so... did Ah Girl finally get her boy in the end?

Well... WONDER NO MORE.

I know I said boy-chase-girl storyline is pretty predictable and boring
but hey! happy endings are always a must. Right? *grins*

Anyway, now that this is done. I guess it's time for me to get back to my L.E.P.A.K post once again. See, the thing is I've been editing photos more than I'm writing these days. Gotta arranged them nicely to be developed into tangible photos. Ya ya, I'm old fashion that way. As much as I live and breathe my dear computer and the internet, I still like my books paperback, my CDs in casing and my photos in real photo albums. So yeah. Not quite open to change, am I? LOL. Anyhow, patient is virtue. I'll get back to writing real soon.

Till then! :)

Boy Meets Girl (Penang Version) Part II

Who would have thought a silly sketch can turned into a 3-part comic?

Yup, there's even a part III to this.

*grins*

Who says the girl is always the damsel in distress?
Or that the guy is always the one doing the courting?

Oh no no no!
That is just too predictable and b-o-r-i-n-g.

So will Ah Girl get her guy in the end?
I guess you'll just have to wait and see!
